M’lore: Knowledge is wealth - Dr K V Peter, Former VC of Kerala Agri University

Mangalore, 31 May 2014: ‘Knowledge is wealth, power and energy; and it a tool to achieve your goals,’ said Dr K V Peter, director of Noni World Research Foundation ®, Chennai and former vice-chancellor of Kerala Agricultural University.

 
Dr Peter was the chief guest delivering convocation address during the fourth 4th Graduation Day celebration of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), held at St Aloysius High School auditorium, here on Saturday May 31 at 3.00pm.

 
Karnataka Jesuits Provincial Superior Dr Stany D’Souza SJ presided the function and declared open the graduation ceremony on the occasion.
 

Dr Peter further said, ‘Power of knowledge you possess, is for human wellness and welfare. It is only wealth; power and purity of knowledge which will make an individual distinct and different to serve many other less fortunate than you,’ said Dr Peter.  Dr Peter wished the students to be grateful to the Jesuits by their positive thoughts and carry knowledge to unreached and lesser fortunate.

 

 

 
Dr Peter distributed the certificates for 1,442 graduates, 23 rank holders in under graduation level and 42 students in post-graduation level and awarded the medals.

 
Special prizes were presented to 3 rank holders in BA by Sharanguda, in memory of his son  Banu Prakash, former student of this college.

 
The graduates pledged the oath to uphold and advance the social order and use the opportunity for the well-being of the society.

 
St Aloysius education institutions rector Fr Denzel Lobo SJ congratulated the graduates on this occasion and said that the student’s experiences and the exposures will help them to decide their future and thus help them to face challenges in their lives.


Dr Stany D’Souza SJ in his presidential address said, ‘the intention of the Jesuit education is not to produce academic monsters but to produce men and women for others,’ said Dr Stany.  He further said, ‘every individual is different, but you have to identify and make a difference within and around you.’

 
St Aloysius College principal Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) registrar Dr A M Narahari, programme convener Dr Judith Carlo was present on the dais.

 
This programme was witnessed by the parents of graduates, staff-members and students.
