Kundapur: Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh Convenes AGM at Kundapur Deanery

Kundapur, 19 May 2014 : Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh ® convened annual general body meeting convention at St Mary’s Pre-University College auditorium here on Sunday May 18.
Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi diocese inaugurated the programme here on Sunday morning.
Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh Central Committee president Kiran Elroy Crasto presided the programme.
Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh ® former president and All India Catholic Union national president Lancy D’Cunha, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castalino, veteran social activist and renowned advocate Shirtady William Pinto, Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh ® spiritual director Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, Kundapur deanery Catholic Sabha spiritual director Fr Anil D’Souza, Victor Vas Secretary Catholic Sabha Mangalaore Pradesh Central Committee, Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh ® secretary Mary D’Souza, Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh Central Committee past president Walter Cyril Pinto, William Machado, Alwyn Quadros, Udupi diocese Catholic Sabha deanery presidents and secretaries and others were present on the dais.
Mary D’Souza presented the annual report, while Pamboor - Manasa Special School chief functionary Remedia D’Souza presented annual report of School. Alwyn Quadros presented annual accounts.
Fr Anil D’Souza hoisted Catholic Sabha flag and later spoke on the occasion.
Shirtady William Pinto released the Catholic Sabha telephone directory.
Lancy D’Cunha released the email profiles of all Catholic Sabha units of the diocese.
Shirtady William Pinto, Roy Castalino, Lancy D’Cunha and others were felicitated for their extraordinary contribution for the community.
Speaking on the occasion, Shirtady William Pinto urged the community to know about constitutional rights and also take active role in proceedings of village councils.
Lancy D’Cunha said that Catholic Sabha is effective to educate the community on various issues for strengthening unit among the brethrens.
Roy Castalino said that Konkani is one of the national language and also third optional subject in the schools and colleges. Konkani Academy is promoting Konkani language in schools.
Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves also spoke during the occasion.
Kiran Elroy Crasto outlined the success of laity organization and appealed to strengthen the Catholic Sabha by membership drive.
Bishop Dr Lobo in his inaugural address said that laity organization like Catholic Sabha has the social concern to uplift less fortunate brethrens in the community to bring them to the mainstream of society.
Catholic Sabha Kundapur deanery former president Vinod Crasto welcomed the gathering. Sahila D’Almeida compered the programme.
Over 400 Catholic Sabha members were present on the occasion.
