The Panchayat Raj which dreamt for making the life of the people has in fact have taken the place of otherwise. Not only in the Panchayat even at all the government offices at every level poor and honest people become hopeless due to corruption and agents. The Lokayukta Office should visit one village at least once in a month and take stock of the situation by asking the people persobnally what dificulties they had instead asking the officials.

This report of the visit will create public awareness. However, as Mr. Noronha suggests, these officers could be proactive in curbing corruption. As a practicing lawyer in Udupi, he certainly knows what he talks about while labeling the offices as dens of corruption.. Mr. Ramappa Hithalmani would do yeomen service if he responds to this report with an oath to curb bribe giving and ensure high productivity at the office. Why would people pay if the work is done within ten days?

It is good news that Lokayukta officers Udupi visited Belle Panchayath. They must visit Taluk Office and check the RTC related work.It is a den of corruption. they must also visit ADLR s office and survey department including DDLR and supervisor at Udupi. These are den s of corruption and have damaged the work culture in Udupi Taluk Office. These officers can suo moto raide , but they expect people to complaain. The complaints given are gathering dust at Bangalore office and Lokayukta has lost its effects I must say. Any complaint must have results in 6 months but here even after 6 years nothing happens. I think it is only to feed the Officers on job and corruption has multiplied for the last 4 years at all levels.

Impatience is the root cause of corruption. We cannot wait till our turn comes. So, you bribe the official so that he moves your papers ahead of others and complete your work faster than others at a cost. The official by himself is not corrupt; we make him corrupt. The contact numbers should be prominently displayed in the Panchayat office so that people know how to contact Lokayukta in case they are harassed by the officials for not greasing their palm.
