Moodubelle: Another opportunity for having the pictures taken for ration cards

Moodubelle, 25 February 2010: The Karnataka Government had introduced a scheme to weed out the bogus BPL ration cards that were in use by making it mandatory for every ration card holder to have the pictures of the family members on the ration card. As a result a large number of people who are abroad either in Mumbai or Gulf could not get their pictures taken. There are also instances where those who were present in the village also could not get their pictures clicked due to one reason or the other. Hence, many families have not yet received their new ration cards due to this hitch.

In the Grama Sabha Meeting that was held on Tuesday, 23rd February 2010 at 10.30 am at the Belle Grama Panchayat premises, Santekatte, Moodubelle, the Village Accountant Mr. Ganesh informed that on 2nd March 2010 arrangements are being made for the villagers to have their photographs taken for the ration card puspose at Purabhavana, Ajjarakad, Udupi.

The Grama Sabha was presided over by the President of the Belle Grama Panchayat, Mr. Shashidhar Wagle. Vice President, Mrs. Leena Noronha, Secretary, Mr. R.H. Hitthalamani and the heads of different administrative departments such as Mescom, Child and Women welfare, Excise, etc were also present. Heads of the administrative departments explained the work done by their respective departments and answered the queries of the villagers.
