Kuwait, 26th September 2010: After successfully completing the knockout rounds of Summer Cup-2010, the Semi-final and Final matches were played on Friday 24th September, 2010 at Hawally Park.

The first Semi-final match was held  between Kuwait XI and United XI. By batting first,  United XI scored total 64 runs for 8 wickets in 8 overs. Ram played a very good knock and scored useful 20 runs and helped his team to put a competitive target on the board. Nabeel from Kuwait XI took 2 wickets. Chasing the target, Kuwait XI started steadily and kept the hopes alive up to last over. In last ball they required 6 runs to win and they succeeded to score only 2 runs and lost the match by 4 runs. Ram declared as the Man of the Match.

The second Semi-final was played between Speed Boys and Stallions. Speed Boys Captain Mohammed won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored total 56 runs in 8 overs and gave Stallions an easy achievable target. Fareed played a fine knock and contributed important 15 runs to his team. Following an easy target, Stallions innings stumbled from the beginning and put themselves in difficult position. Their innings was that of lacklustre compared to their First Round Match where they had easily scored 100 runs in 8 overs. Finally they lost semi-final to the Speed Boys in the last over. In the last ball they required to score 4 runs but ended with a dot ball. Fareed took 3 wickets and declared Man of the Match for his all round Performance.

So the stage was set for the Final Match to be played between United XI against  Speed Boys. The important toss won by United XI and captain Imran elected to bat first. In a hot sunny day United XI openers started their innings much confidently and attacked Speed Boys bowlers from the beginning. Opener Gautham hit the ball all over the ground and scored 52 runs with three 6’s and three 4’s. Another opener Nandu also gave him good support and remained unbeaten on 16. So United XI piled a mountain of runs and completed their innings with a commendable total of 80 runs for 2 wickets.

Having in front of them a huge target, Speed Boys struggled from the beginning and lost their openers cheaply. It was Fareed who again came in to their rescue and gave them some hopes. He hit two 6’s and a 4 and scored valuable 32 runs. But all his efforts went in vain and they lost the Final Match. They could score only 66 runs in 8 overs. United XI won the Final Match of the Summer Cup Tournament by a convincing margin of 15 runs to lift the SUMMER CUP-2010.

I really appreciate the efforts of SOS especially Mr. Hanif put into this tournament. Personally , it was just a two days of well run professionalism. Both the days very well laid out and kept to schedule. Though weather was supportive to certain extent, we had a great time. All in all it was a great torunament. Good luck for all the shirvaites in Kuwait SOS
