Teachers Day and Girl Child Day Celebrations in Manasa

Shanthipura (Pamboor), 08 September 2010: Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre, Pamboor celebrated Teachers’ Day and Girl Child’s Day on 6th and 7th September 2010 respectively. The Teachers Day on 6th September 2010 was celebrated from 10 am with beautiful and meaningful prayer service conducted by the Principal, Sr. Vinny Gonslaves. Each teaching and non-teaching staff member was given lighted lamps to form a single lamp to show the unity.
All the members of the teaching and non-teaching staff were specially greeted by their respective class students thus expressing their special respect and love for their teachers. There were special games for the staff which both the staff members and students enjoyed thoroughly. The staff members entertained the students with dance and songs. The students also presented songs and dances.
The President of the Manasa wished teachers on the occasion of the Teachers Day and appreciated their service and distributed gifts to all. Mrs. Hemalatha thanked the Principal for organizing the Teachers Day. Later, sweets and refreshments were distributed to all.
Prior to the Teachers Day Celebration, on 1st September 2010 the teachers of Manasa had participated in the First Udupi District Teachers day Celebration for Special Educators and Supportive Staff’ at Manipal jointly organised by the Mahila Samaj, Samrudh and Lions Club of Manipal. Thirteen Special Schools had participated in various competitions organised on this day. The staff of the Manasa won Second Prize in Group Song and Third Prize in the Solo Song.
The Girl Child day was observed in the Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre on 7th September 2010 at 10 am. Mr. Gerald Machado, Vice President of the Pamboor Parish Pastoral Council was the chief guest. The other guests included, Rev. Fr. Charles Lewis, parish priest of Pamboor and Fr. George Lewis from Kerala.
Mr. Gerald Machado who had sponsored gifts for the girl students of Manasa appreciated the good work done by the Trustees, Principal and staff for the welfare of the girl children in the Manasa and said that he felt happy to see smiles on the faces of these Special Girl Children.
Fr. Charles Lewis in his message said that these gild children should be treated with love and appreciation. Fr. George Lewis wished the children in Malayalam. Sr. Vinney Gonslaves, the principal of Manasa expressed gratitude to Mr. Gerald Machado and Fr. Charles Lewis and Fr. George Lewis for their inspiring messages, support and encouragement.
