Udupi: Manasa Rehabilitation & Training Centre celebrates Annual Day with Cultural Shows

Udupi, 26 Jan 2014: The evening of Saturday January 25 was indeed a special one for the students Manasa rehabilitation and training centre who were given a platform to display their talents in the midst of those who nurture and care for them. Shri Vinay kumar Sorake . shri upendra nayak president udupi zilla panchayat, Rev Fr Paul Rego Holy Cross church Pamboor, smt ida gibba dsouza member Udupi zilla pancahyat, were the chief guest of the day.
The student of manasa centre Kum elma baretto presented a prayer dance invoking God’s blessings for a pleasant and beautiful programme. Mr. Alphonso Dcosta the vice president of manasa trust welcomed the chief guest and the august gathering.
The school reprt for the year 2013-2014 was presented by Sr. Thelma Lewis the principal of Manasa centre. Rev. Fr. Paul Rego felicitated the sponsors of the day. Students who participated in the international and national level special Olympics were felicitated by Shri Upendra Nayak, Fr. Paul Rego and Gerald Pinto the trustee of manasa centre. They were Archana M.J the student of Asare special school who won bronze medal in the international asia pacific special Olympics held at Australia in November 2013, elma baretto and subramanya who won siver and gold medal in table tennis national level special Olympics held at U.P barely.
Shri Upendra Nayak in his speech said that special schools are the centre were these special children are being trained to bring them to the mainstream of the society also it is sad that the number of these children has been increasing. The role of the teachers is great and tremendous to train these children. He appreciated the good work that is being done. Shri Vinay Kumar Sorake in his speech appreciated the dedication of the management and staffs specially the teachers of the centre; he assured all that he can do for the centre specially the facility that is available for these children.
A memento prepared by the children of Manasa centre was given to all the chief guests as a token of remembrance. The students staged variety cultural shows including dances and Skit as part of entertainment programme.
Sr. Thelma Lewis principal of the centre expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of this annual day function. Parents who were present in large numbers greatly appreciated the vibrant and beautiful performance of the students with smiles and thunderous applause.
Kum. Ashwini one of the teacher compeered the function.
