Mangalore, 26 Nov 2013 : Arso- Konkani fortnightly in Kannada script is all set to be launched from Mangalore. Henry Mendonca, popularly known as H M Pernal   a renowned critic, poet and short story writer for more than   28 years in Konkani will be the Editor of ARSO.

 


ARSO will be officially launched in a formal function at Milagres Parish Hall on Thursday 28th  November 2013 at 4.30 p.m.

Renowned Kannada writer Dr. Na. D Souza will launch ARSO. Rev Fr Richard Coelho, Administrator, Fr Muller Medical College and Hospital, will be chief guest on this occasion. 

 

 

For the last 3 years, Henry Mendonca, successfully edited and published interactive Konkani literary website, kittall.com with enlightening literary content. The decision to start a print edition therefore came naturally. The editor  H M Pernal opines “ Printed text always carry weight. Though web media is instant and effective, it only reaches to a section of the people who have access to internet facility.  But a significant section of Konkani readers are from villages who prefer to read Konkani in print. This came as naturally to reach this section of people.”

 

 

 When asked about the editorial policies of ARSO and how it is different from present Konkani periodicals , H M Pernal says “ARSO is more  effective medium to express opinions freely without any fear. The editorial policy of ARSO  always subscribe to rational and humane ideas.  Literature emphasizing rational and humane thought will published. The focus will be on rational thinking, younger generation and new ideas”

 

 

Yearly subscription to ARSO is Rs.250/-  and those who wish to subscribe online can do so by filling a simple form on Kittall.com. Initially the periodical will be 8 pages in tabloid size; gradually the number of pages will be increased to 12 to 16.

 

 

So far Henry Mendonca has four published books to his credit- three collection of poems and a collection of short stories. He is the publisher, editor of  kittall.com , premier Konkani literary website and Editor of  Evershine Publications which recently published Fr. Denis Castelino’s  book  PALLAM  ANI  MULLAM.
