Mangalore: Nitte University awarded ’A’ Grade by NAAC
Mangalore, 19 Nov 2013: Nitte University has been awarded ’A’ Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
NAAC is the national accrediting body under the UGC to accredit all types of Universities, Professional Colleges and Institutions of Higher Learning. NAAC has accredited 178 of the 612 universities of the country and Nitte University is one among the 68 Universities which are graded ’A’ by NAAC.
In 2012, the University was placed under category ’A’ of Deemed University by the MHRD. Just about five years old, the University is one of the youngest Universities to achieve the distinction of getting the highest grades ’A’ both by NAAC and MHRD. Achieving ’A’ grades by NAAC and MHRD are essential to start new courses, start new campuses and to bring new colleges under the ambit of a Deemed University.
"We feel that this is a reward for our efforts to achieve excellence. With this, we will not be complacent; we feel that we now have more responsibility in not only sustaining this achievement but taking it to higher level by offering ourselves to assessment by international accrediting organizations," said the Chancellor NV Hegde.
Nitte University is presently offering 87 UG and PG courses in its 5 constituent colleges.
