Udupi, 30 Sep 2013 : My church and my labour ಸರ್ಥಿ ಶ್ರಮಾಧಾನ್: The inaugural parish voluntary Labour Day was held at Mount Rosary new church building, here on Sunday September 29.
The parish priest prayed for the project laying of tiles for the church roof, the first roof tile was passed by Jerry Vincent Dias, vice president of the parish council, delivered to the roof and was laid with great anticipation for a new church while others continued the task of passing the tiles. There were about 75 people from the parish on the first day that showed great interest withsmiles on their face for a job that was once in a life time for this Elysian cause of divine deed.
Mount Rosary parish with a history of 181 years serving the congregation for Divine cause has come a long way. The Mount Rosary church came into its existence in the year 1832. Since the Santhekatte of Kallianpura in Udupi district which has been under the municipal city limit the settlements are increasing every year at an average rate of 15 to 25 new families settling annually for the parish.
The Mount Rosary church which had become old was demolished last year for the reconstruction is having a new facelift with modern structure and ample space for the devotees. The images of the construction work here is a great achievement of the project that is ongoing since 2012 it is God almighty who blessed the people of the parish who are humble and pray for the completion of the divine deed. God has blessed us with graceful cause to have a new church and a life time opportunity for who deserve to donate and appeal all the people who can extend their generous divine deed that will be written on the history of the parish.
A Voluntary of labour has been assigned for every ward of the parish starting from September 30 2013, the theme is My church and my labour ಸರ್ಥಿ ಶ್ರಮಾಧಾನ್. The parish community on this day will come to work voluntarily for the sewing of the tile of the roof and become the labor of the day where his or her part of the work will be considered valuable.
Earlier, the foundation stone was laid of a new church in 2012. Great interest and enthusiasm attached to the event as 181 years of existence of mount Rosary church in lower Kallianpur will be rebuilt, after it was moved to the Nejar mount in the year 1882. A prominent site where the previous Mount Rosary church existed was selected, and the blessing of foundation stone by Bishop of Mangalore diocese Aloysius Paul D’Souza during the Mass was held at the Millennium auditorium. During the mass the foundation stone’s where carried by Vice president of the church Jerry Vincent Dias, secretary Richard Dias, former vice presidents Stany Cornelio Professor Ligoury Aranha and Benedict Menezes to the marked point located with respect on a procession along with the church congregation accompanied by priests and nuns from neighboring parishes.
After a century and two decades of precious time elapsed devoting in the temple of God built by parish elders, opportunity awaited for people of Mount Rosary church today in this new millennium to reconstruct a large spacious church to accommodate ever growing faithful devotees of the parish.
The parish council has been inspired by the parish community in this divine action and have extended their co-operation to parish priest Fr Philip Neri Aranha who is in the forefront of a milestone to lead the project. He expressed during his speech that the ancestors have put up a lot of hardship to build the church and yet again we are to rebuild the church with God’s grace blessings of mother Mary and the prayers of all departed souls of the parish and the priests who served in this church. He thanked the all the members who work on this project and the donors.
Bishop Dr Gerald Lobo welcomed the new developments and he asserted: this church house of God will be built by the parish community.Refreshments served for all after the mass. Significant event in the life of parish community has just commenced and a wait is immense to see the new structure rise in the new horizon of Kallianpur that is Mount Rosary Church with miracles for her humble children Mount Rosarians.
