Mangalore: World Breast Feeding Week Begins at Father Muller Charitable Institutions

Mangalore, 01 August 2013: The inaugural program of World Breast Feeding Week was held at medical record section of Father Muller Charitable Institutions on Thursday August 1 at 11.30 am.
The program commenced with prayer song by the second year M Sc nursing students (community health nursing) and Savitha Pramilda Cutinho, head of department of OBG nursing department, Father Muller College of Nursing welcomed the guests and the public.
Dr Ambika Hegde, senior resident, OBG department, Father Muller Medical College Hospital highlighted the importance of breast feeding to the public.
Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions addressed on the importance of breast feeding and avoidance of artificial feeds. He stated that India is one of the leading countries which promote breast feeding.
Dr Sinatra Ferrao, senior resident, OBG department, Father Muller Medical College Hospital proposed the vote of thanks.
The activities of the week will be carried out in the outpatient department, wards and health centers and Father Muller Thumbay Hospital are; video display, health talk on breast feeding, role play, quiz, poster competition and CNE for staff.
