06 August 2010: The Congress leaders on a ’long march’ to Bellary against the illegal mining activities has completed tweleve days and they have crossed the halfway mark. This padayatre of the Congress leaders has created an enthusiasm among the Congress workers who have joined the leaders in the padayatre. This march has also created lot of curiosity and interest among the village people along the route of the padayatre who gather on the roadside to have a glimpse of the white-clad leaders whome they might not have seen or heard earlier. In order to add glitter and excitement to the road-show, a number of Congress supporters have been putting up shows dressed in mythological characters or folk dances. This unique form of long march has been hogging lime-light in the local media. The Congress leaders feel that this padayatre has given them an opportunity to revive the popularity of the Congress in the state. According to media reports, the padayatre has generated a lot of interest among and support of the general masses. 

From the above pictures one fails to understand as to how the dresses of the Congress leaders and other co-padayatris have retained sparkling whiteness inspite of the their march through dusty and muddy roads and also the broad smile on the face of the leaders.
