Bus fares to go up in Udupi by a rupee soon
Udupi, 15 Mar 2013: A Regional Transport Authority (RTA) meeting called to discuss the revision of private bus fares in the district on Thursday accepted a proposal of the City Bus Owners’ Association to hike the fare. The fare will go up by Re 1 for the first stage of two kilometers and hence the minimum fare will now become of Rs 6.
The fares for the remaining stages thereafter will remain unchanged.
The meeting was chaired by deputy commissioner MT Reju and RTO C Mallikarjuna.
At the meeting people expressed their grievance regarding insensitive behavior of some of the bus conductors and agents.
The deputy commissioner directed all the bus operators in the city to ensure that all bus agents are displaying a badge showing their name, photo and phone number within a week. A copy of their name and address will be kept with the RTO. Reju suggested the operators to give training on good behaviors to their staff.
The DC also asked the bus operators to introduce ticket vending machines and adopt GPRS mechanism in all the buses within a month.
