Kundapur: Women’s Day celebration by Holy Rosary parish Women’s Organization

Kundapur, 11 Mar 2013: International Women’s Day was celebrated on Sunday, March 10, 2013 by the Stree Sanghattan of the Holy Rosary Parish, Kundapur following the Sunday Mass. The programme was presided over by Rev. Fr. Anil D’Souza, Parish Priest. The programme began with prayer. The president of the Sanghattan, Mrs. Vinaya D’Costa after a brief introduction about the exploitation of women, welcomed the gathering.
Secretary of the Sanghattan, Mrs. JuiLiet Pais read the report of the organization and Mrs. Shanthi Karvalho presented the accounts . During the programme, the Vice President of the Anagalli Panchayat, Mrs. Lidviya Almeida was felicitated. Replying to the honour, Mrs. Lidviya Almeida said that women should not lose the opportunities that come on their way. Another prominent woman personality, Mrs. Vijetha Pinky D’Sa, Civil Judge of Kundapur was also honoured. In her reply, Mrs. Vijetha said that girls should boldly move forward in the society and should try to achieve important positions in various fields. During the vocation parish council secretory Ms. Sony Dcosta and ex president of Stri Sanghatan Mrs. Victoria Dsouza were present on the dias.
In his presidential address, Rev. Fr. Anil D’Souza said that girls and women should strengthen their self confidence and fight against the exploitation of women.
The women presented cultural programme such as dance. Later a short hilarious social play written and directed by Bernard J. D’Costa titled “Pathin Thi Preranach” was presented. The programme was compeered by Mrs. Lona Lewis.
