Peaceful election for the Kundapura Municipal Council

Kundapur, 08 Mar 2013: Election was conducted peacefully to the 23 wards of the Kundapura Municipal Council. BJP had fielded candidates to all the 23 wards whereas Congress contested in 16 wards and CPM in only 7 wards. While JDS fielded candidates in 9 wards BSR contested in 6 wards and independent candidates were seen contesting the elections in 4 wards.
Though the voters did not show much enthusiasm initially for the local body election gradually the tempo picked up and at the end around 76.16 percent of the voters cast their votes. In the jurisdiction of Kundapura Municipal area the police had identified 10 area as sensitive and one area as critically sensitive. However, there were no major untoward incidents and overall the election was conducted peacefully.
