Kundapur, 22 Jan 2013: Sakal is a revolutionary Act to streamline the administration in government departments in order to address the grievances of general public within a set period.  The former CM D V Sadanand who introduced Sakal, deserves to be commended for his pro-people concern, said S Janardhan, former president of Maravante gram panchayat and resource person of Panchayat Raj department.

Janardhan was speaking at the information programme on Sakal that was organized at the aegis of Raghavendra Sports Club and Gangolli Rotary Club, at Saraswati Vidyalaya Higher Primary School, Gangolli, near hee on Sunday January 20.

The citizens are failing to get their democratic rights.  The government departments are lethargic to effectively provide services to general public.  The vested interests delay the services.  The people are faced abuse and harassment by governing authorities.  It’s owing to the inefficiency of government staff, the general public is deprived of their legitimate facilities.  At this juncture, Right to Information Act and Sakal, civil service guarantee are the key instruments in streamlining administration in different departments of state administration, added Janardhan.

Under Sakal Act, the general public is entitled to avail 271 services from 18 departments, with a timeline.  The state governments hopes the general public gets various facilities without waiting for a long period, by setting deadline to government officials thereby improving the efficiency in administration.  The general public is expected to make the best use of facilities by educating themselves, stressed Janardhan.

Raghavendra Sports Club former president Ramesh G Mallya inaugurated the programme.

The vice president Nagaraj Karvi presided the programme.

The secretary B Ganesh Shenoy, Gangolli Rotary Club president Ashok Devadiga, secretary Janardhan Poojary were present.
