Udupi: Santosh Hegde expresses Concern over falling Values in Governance

Udupi, 18 Jan 2013: The values in Indian legislative, judiciary and enforcement agencies are degenerating; former Lakayukta Santosh Hegde expressed deep concern over the issue.
Santosh Hegde was delivering T A Pai memorial endowment lecture at T A Pai Management Institute, Manipal, here on Thursday January 17.
The judges are responsible for falling judicial values, while several judges resign in order to save their dignity, said Santosh Hegde, citing the example of Allahabad High Court, wherein 34 judges face CBI inquiry.
The huge gap related to population and courts, judges also contribute for the degeneration of judicial values. The delayed justice responsible for backlog of several cases over many years. The delayed justice causes severe hardship to common folks, said Santosh Hegde.
If these lapses are rectified Indian democracy becomes the ideal governance in the world, added Santosh Hegde.
Manipal University chancellor Dr Ramdas M Pai presided the programme.
