Udupi: Konkani Sahitya Academy Presents Konkani Neketr Award to Walter Cyril Pinto

Udupi, 01 Jan 2013: Walter Cyril Pinto, former president of Catholic Sabha, Mangalore Pradesh was felicitated by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy for his significant contributions in sustaining Konkani and services to Konkani community, by awarding Konkani Neketr (star), during a function held at R S B Bhavan, Manipal, near here recently.

 

 
The veteran journalist M V Kamath inaugurated www.konkaniacademy.org at the occasion.

 
M V Kamath and Taranga – Kannada monthly magazine editor Sandhya Pai were the chief guests of the occasion.

Sandhya Pai urged the gathering to collectively work towards sustenance of Konkani for posterity.

 
The Academy president Kasargod Chinna presided the programme.

 
The representatives of twenty-four Konkani speaking communities were present at the dais.

 
The Academy registrar Dr Pai proposed vote of thanks.
