PPBA players emerge top at state level Badminton tournament in Udupi

Udupi, 11 July 2012: Prakash Padukonne Badminton Academy (PPBA) reigned supreme in the state level 5 star Ranking Badminton tournament held at the Ajjerkad Indore Stadium.  The tournament was held for 3 categories i.e. 13, 15 and 17 year category and the finals were completed on Wednesday.

 

Wednesday happened to be the luckiest day for the PPBA as they managed to grab 10 winners and 5 runners-up trophies out of 12 finals held on this day.  The tournament proved the high level and superiority of the game exhibited by PPBA Bangalore.

 

 

 

 

 

 

One of the most exiting and high tensed game (under 17 girls) was held between Mahima  Agarwal (Rank 1) and Sheika Gautam (Rank 7)both PPBA players. After a long and electrifying game, Mahima finally managed to beat Shikha by 25-23, 17-21, 21-18.

 

In the under 17 boys category, PPBA player Daniel Farid easily beat NGV team player Akash Raj Murthy by 21-7, 21-11 in straight sets. In the boys doubles category NGV players Agarwal-Sankeerth beat BCI team players Srinath-Madhusudan by 21-12, 21-10 straight sets. In the girls doubles Mahima-Shikha (PPBA) beat Megna Kulkarni-Ruchita Patil easily in straight sets by 21-10, 21-18.

 

In the under 15 girls category too PPBA players fought face-to-face and the game was held between Shikha Gautam Vs Mahima Agarwal and in this game Shikha managed to defeat Mahima by 21-19, 21-12.

 

In the under 15 girls doubles category too PPBA players fought face-to-face and played between Mahima-Shikha Vs Apeksha Nayak-Archana Pai and finaly Mahima-Shikha won the match by 21-19, 21-15.

 

 
The tournament was organized by Udupi District Badminton Association under the patronage of The Karnataka Badminton Association. The concluding ceremony will be held on July 14 and Prakash Padukone himself is expected to grace the occasion.

Hats off to PPBA players. I remember Prakash Padukonne returned from England in flying colours winning All England Championship in 1979?? When the able champion at the helm, sure PPBA players to get best training under his guidance and perform best to the ability. A few more photographs of tournament would have been high-lighted the achievements of each players.
