Moodubelle, 02 Jul 2012: The anxiety of the people about scanty rainfall this monsoon season was belied when the skies opened up right from early morning of Monday, July 2, 2012 as it rained throughout the day, inundating the low-lying areas in close proximity to the Belle river.
Those farmers who were eager to complete the process of transplanting paddy saplings had to call it a day as the incessant rains made their task quite difficult. As the Belle river swelled with flowing rainwater and began to inundate the low lying fields by the river side, those who had bundles of paddy saplings in the fields were forced to shift them to higher places so as prevent them being washed away by the flood waters.
The lone tiller in the neighbourhood that was hired for ploughing the paddy fields was seen resting in a relatively higher place. While the temperature has come down drastically, the continuous rains have caused a lot of inconvenience especially to small school children as they returned home following the end of their classes.
Nice pics and report. Thaks to Dr Eugene D’souza, i miss this rainy season.
