Mangalore: Inauguration of the renovated church and presbytery at Valencia

Mangalore, 20 May 2012: The renovated church dedicated to St. Vincent Ferer at Valencia was inaugurated and blessed by the Bishop of Mangalore, Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius P. D’Souza on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 5 pm.
The Holy Mass was concelebrated by the Bishop of Mangalore and the Archbishop of Delhi, Most Rev. Dr. Vincent Concesso along with the parish priest of Valencia, Rev. Fr. Bonaventure Nazareth, assistant parish priest Roshan Crasta and around 25 other priests.
It was a year ago as a part of the Diamond Jubilee of the church a decision was taken to undertake certain projects such as extension and renovation of the church, expansion of the parish hall, renovation and extension of the presbytery and erection of an Adoration Chapel.
Under the leadership of the Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council, Rita Menezes and Secretary, Leslie D’Souza an amount of around One Crore and eighty lacs of rupees were collected by way of donations contributed by the parishioners. By this amount, the project of the extension and renovation of the church building that can accommodate around 1,500 people and the presbytery are ready.
In the evening there was cultural programme. The prize for the lucky draw-Honda Car was on exhibition which attracted a large number of people. People were also served meal at the end of the programme.
