Mangalore, 24 April 2012: The Mangalore passport office has been upgraded recently to accommodate load of applicants seeking new passports and renewals. More over arrangements have been made to submit more than 500 applications per day people coming from various districts. However, the system isn’t working properly and for those who have come to receive the passports no facility is given in the premises and also the passport officials have been accused of cheating to the public on this issue. Those who come to submit applications have been made to stand in big queues in hot sun, rain and water and it looks like they have been treated worst than beggars.
No any kind of facility is provided for the public such as no parking, no drinking water, and no proper arrangements for old people. Protesting on this issue Congress General Secretary Mr. Ivan D’Souza have submitted a memorandum and threatened to take further action and street protests against ill treatment of Women, children, old people. If the proper facility is not provided to them and if proper arrangements have not been accommodate these people, we will attack passport office against this ill treatment of public. In the past several times this has been brought to the notice of the officials but not action has been taken as yet to solve this problem and public are very angry with passport officials.
Secondly, at the airport though the parking fee after five minutes of parking for vehicles is Rs 40/- but it has come to the notice that now they have been charging Rs. 60/- and cheating the public and if this issue is not corrected, we will protest against airport officials.

This issue is not an issue in Mangalore but all over India. This is a corrupt country and every body want to make a fast buck at the cost the cost of the citizens.People want to go abroad for various reasons and they need a passport and they face these unwanted hardships. I can imagine the plight of the aged. Since you are a common citizen you have to go through all these but if you know somebody then you do not have to go through all this.I hope something is done for these passport seekers. |
