Udupi, 30 March 2012: The Rave Party conducted in St. Mary’s island to promote tourism in the district, is not known to Udupi District Tourism Department it seems, that is what the Department Officer has said. The program was organized by 3W Concept from Bangalore and regarding the permission for this, Udupi’s Social Worker Shrirama Divana had submitted application to the Deputy Commissioner under the right of information act on 23rd February. But the Deputy Commissioner forwarded this application to the tourism department on 27th February.

The Tourism Department Deputy Director has replied but not the answer to the question. He has mentioned that the information you had asked is not with us, therefore you ask the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, he has suggested. There is no approval given by the Tourism Department for this program. Also, the 3W company has not done any correspondence with us. So we do not have any information on this. If any more information required D.C. Office is to be contacted, said the Deputy Director in his written information.

The District Administration had said that, to promote the tourism activities in the district and to introduce the tourist places to the foreigners this program was organized. But the Tourism Department which is part of District Administration and exists in the 2nd floor of the D.C. office, does not have information of this program.

The sad part is, in this department leave aside the Udupi district tourism, at least they do not have information on the tourist spots in the district. The government says that the tourism will be developed similar to Kerala and Goa. But with such tourism department, will it be possible or with the Rave party will it be possible to have tourism industry.

Shame on our Tourism Dept. they don t have information what is happenning in our district. What a strange and the funny that both offices are in the same building and have no idea what is happening in their each others office and this issue was published prior to program in media and news papers. it is nothing but trying to avoid controversy to escape blame and nothing else.
