Manipal College of Dental Sciences Celebrates Annual Day

Manipal, 13 March 2012: Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal celebrated its College day and Awards ceremony on Saturday at Fortune Inn Valley View. Dr Naseem Shah, Chief of Dental education and research and Head Department of Conservative and Endodontics, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi was the chief guest for the function. Dr K Ramnarayan, Vice Chancellor, Manipal University was the Guest of Honor.
Dr Shah in her address to the graduates stressed that hard work was the only way to success; there was no short cuts for it. She advised the graduates to practice dentistry with ethics as the main priority. In all that they do they should follow it strictly above financial gains. They should also maintain a balance between their professional lives and their personal lives.
Dr K Ramnarayan advised the fresh graduates to incorporate the values of Manipal University in every aspect of their lives. He also told them to take care of their personal well being to be effective in their profession. Dr Nirmala N Rao Dean, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal presented the College Report for the year 2011-2012. The college bulletin “ Pinnacle” was released during the ceremony.
About 100 graduates received their scroll of Honor for successfully completing their Bachelor of Dental Surgery Course. There were 84 rank holders and 5 students received Gold medals and endowment awards. Miss Ankita Gupta was recognized as the best out going student of the year. Dr Raghu Radhakrishnan, Professor and Head, Department of Oral Pathology was awarded the Best Teacher award for the year 2011-2012.
Awards were given for the best outgoing sports persons, for faculty of the institution who had contributed to the field of sports, for students who had done well at the Provenance -2011.for students who had given an excellent performance at the Republic day celebrations in January 2012 and for the Student who had achieved a 100% attendance in all the subjects during the second year B D S Course.
