Moodubelle: Workshop on Dairy Farming held by Belle Milk Producers’ Society

Moodubelle, 27 September 2011: In order to pass on information and train the milk producers of Moodubelle and Kattingeri in increasing the quality of milk and the right type of fodder to be used to increase both the quantity and quality of milk, a workshop was organized jointly by the Milk Producers’ Federation of Dakshina Kannada and Milk Producers’ Society of Moodubelle on Monday, 26 September 2011 from 10 am to 1 pm in the Geeta Mandir Hall.
The resource person of the workshop, Kaup Diwakara shetty said that in the twin districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi there are 639 primary milk producers’ cooperative societies. From these societies, daily 2,10,000 liters of milk is collected. In the coming days milk producers will have a good future as the market for milk will be expanding day by day. Hence, the milk producers need not worry about the sale of their milk. Milk producers will also have better price for the milk. The Federation is providing necessary facilities, information and training to the milk producers in dairy farming.
Dr. Anil Kumar, Deputy Director of the Federation gave detailed information regarding the care to be taken in maintaining cattle. Dr. Raviraj Udupa, another Deputy Director of the Federation explained how the calves should be taken care of and the utility of the green fodder.
Dr. H B Shetty, President of the Belle Milk producers’ Society welcomed the gathering, Sunil Mattaru compeered the programme and Secretary Ravindra proposed the vote of thanks.
