Manipal, 25 September 2011: District office complex which is being constructed at Manipal End Point, after several announcements of the dates of inauguration and postponements for various reasons, will be inaugurated by 15th November, assured Udupi MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat. During the “Jago Shasak Jago” program organized by the Udupi Consumers Vedhike, in the face to face discussions between Udupi MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat and the public, MLA answered with assurances of resolving all the pending issues.
Manipal University has been trying not establish the District Complex in Manipal even now. The funds 18 crores rupees initially released by the government was not sufficient and another 7.65 crores rupees were released. Finally there was shortage for the furnishing. But now another 2 crores rupees have been released for it, said MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat.
Adjacent to this complex, a full-fledged Bus Station will be constructed in 4 acre area. Arrangements have been already made for the convenience of people coming from Kundapura and Karkala to the District offices, by issuing special permission for the busses, he said.
Jetty’s will be constructed for the convenience of tourists going to St. Mary’s island. Rupees 90 lakhs has been released for the Jetty at Malpe and rupees 80 lakhs has been released for Jetty at St. Mary’s island in the last budget. But the Deputy Commissioner has not yet prepared the tender for this so far. Earlier the Nirmiti was to construct this project, later it was given to the department. I have even had an argument on this matter. Soon the action will be taken on this, said the MLA.
Proper action will be taken for the construction of the foot path for the Udupi roads. In the Udupi –Manipal state highway project the officers did not plan the project properly and did not include the construction of the foot path, hence there was shortage in allotment of funds. At that time rupees 5 crores would have been sufficient for the foot path. But now the cost is raised to 7.5 crores. The proposal has been presented and after the rainy season the foot path will be constructed said MLA answering a question.
Rupees 2 crores has been released for the refurbishment of Udupi Fish Market and the construction work will be done this year. Adi Udupi market refurbishment is in progress with a cost of rupees 1 crore. The project plan of Manipal Parari – Kolalgiri bridge to Suvarna River is already ready with a estimated cost of 8 crores. For Parkala state highway widening land acquisition, rupees 3 crores has been already released.
Board High School which is celebrating the 125 years has been allotted with rupees 2.5 crores for demolishing the old building to construct the new building....... so like this MLA presented a list of crores before the meeting. Convener of the Consumer Vedhike K. Damodara Aythal, Shantharaqm Aythal, Chandrashekar were present. In the discussion S.S. Thonse, Laxmibai, R.L. Dias, Ammanje Nayak and others participated.
