Udupi: The intention is to formulate a suitable action plan for building the Christian community and then implement it, in addition to providing grants for buildings, and it is a good development that consultations are being held across the state in this regard, said the Archbishop of Udupi Diocese, His Eminence Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo.

He was speaking at a consultative meeting held by the Christian Development Corporation at the Ave Maria Hall of the Udupi Mother of Sorrows Church, which included leaders of various congregations in the community.

This time, the Chief Minister has already sanctioned a grant of Rs 80 crore to the Development Corporation in the first phase. His intention is that this should directly reach the schemes of the people of the community and benefit the poor. He has instructed the Corporation to take the responsibility of implementing it honestly. He said that the responsibility of achieving success lies with the community by making a systematic work plan to properly fulfil the objectives of the Corporation.

Speaking on the occasion, Prashant Jattanna, the director of the corporation, said that Siddaramaiah’s government is a government that is living up to its promises and has established the Christian Development Corporation as promised before the elections. He said that the work of formulating pro-people projects limited to the Christian community is in progress and the projects are being made after taking the suggestions of the community. He said that at present, I have been given the responsibility of 12 districts and I am touring there and taking the suggestions of the community. He said that a meeting of the corporation will be held in Bengaluru on July 3 and I will present the suggestions there.
