External Gender Equality Team Inaugurated at Sampada, Udupi

Udupi, 25 March 2025: In order to promote Gender Equality an External Gender Equality Team was inaugurated under the leadership of Sampada, Udupi at its office at Anugraha Pastoral Centre, Kakkunje, Santekaatee, Kallianpur on Monday, 24 March 2025 at 03 pm. 

 

Stanley Fernandes-Coordinator of Sampada Udupi in his introductory address said that the chief aim and objectives of the Udupi District Gender Equality External Team are to promote gender equality in a harmonious manner. Attempts will be made to promote equal respect, equal opportunities, equal pay, etc to boys and girls, men and women. He further said that there is a need to educate men and women impressing upon them that the gender inequality leads to exploitation and harassment of females in the society by unscrupulous people. 

 

Rev. Fr. Reginald Pinto-Executive Director of Sampada, through the Power Point Presentation explained the various views of students from different colleges published in a news-paper regarding the concept and ideas of Gender Equality and its significance to the women in particular and society in general.

All the members of the External Gender Equality Team suggested various ways and means to promote the concept and idea of Gender Equality in different forums available to them.

 

The following members constituted the External Gender Equality Team:  Mrs. Veronica  Cornelio,  Rosario D’Souza(Retired PSI), Mrs. Janet Barboza, Mrs. Shanti Pereira,  Victor D’Souza, Mrs. Bhanumati Jayanand B.K., Mrs. Yashodha Shetty, Mrs. Purnima, Reshma, Dr. Sunita Shet and Dr. Eugene D’Souza.
