Mumbai (RBI), Mar. 12: The Railway Board has already approved the extension of the Mangalore-Kabaka-Puttur passenger train to Subrahmanya Junction and the train service will be launched by the end of March, with the date set by Railway Minister V. Somanna, said Dakshina Kannada MP Cllr. Brijesh Chowta.
K.Chowta, who met Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna in New Delhi today, appreciated the historic decision of the Railway Ministry to extend the Mangalore-Kabaka-Puttur passenger train to Subrahmanya Road, which had been in demand for the past decade, and expressed special gratitude to the Minister on behalf of the people of Dakshina Kannada district. He also thanked the Railway Board, South Western and Southern Railway officials.
As soon as he became an MP, he raised the long-standing railway demand of coastal rail passengers in the Lok Sabha and then followed up with the ministry and railway officials, and as a result, the decade-long dream of the people of the district is close to coming true. I discussed with Minister Somanna about giving the green signal to this train, and MP K. Chowta said on the occasion that this train service from Mangalore to Subrahmanya will start as soon as his time is fixed for the inauguration.
