L.V.Avin Doddikkatte elected as new honorary president of Billavara Association Mumbai

Mumbai, Feb. 22: The Executive Committee of the Billavara Association Mumbai, a prestigious organization among the caste organizations in the country’s economic capital, Brihanmumbai, has unanimously elected L.V. Avin Doddikatte as the new Honorary President of the Billavara Association Mumbai, which is serving in its ninety-third year.
L.V. Avin was elected as the third honorary president of the association for the period 2025-28 at a recent meeting held at the association’s Billavar Bhavan in Santacruz. The post fell vacant after the demise of former vice president Y. Nagesh and then president Jaya C. Suvarna, who served as the association’s president for nearly three decades, after serving as the life honorary president. Billavar Association President Harish G. Avin and office bearers have appointed L.V. Avin to the post.
Having served as the President and Senior Vice President of the association, which comprises about 21 local Samis across Maharashtra, LV has now been selected as the new Sarathi to further strengthen the organization with additional responsibility.
L.V.Avin:
Born as the fifth child of Venkappa Poojary and Abbayya Avin (now deceased), residents of Bajpe Doddikattta in Mangalore taluk of undivided Dakshina Kannada district, Elvi belongs to an old family called Doddikattta Di| Ammanna Poojary. After completing his education in Bajpe, he moved to Mumbai and started working as a laborer. After graduating with a Diploma in Mechanical Draftsmanship, he became famous as a self-employed businessman and an inter-state politician.
Avina, who has served as the President of the South Indian unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mumbai region, the President, Treasurer of the BJP Santacruz Assembly constituency, the Vice President of the BJP North-West Division, and the Treasurer, and is currently a member of the BJP Mumbai region executive committee, has always been at the forefront of educational and social services. She has served as the Trustee President of the Shiva Ganesh Mandir in Chaitanya Nagar, Vakola, East Santacruz, the Honorary President of Brahma Shri Narayana Guru Seva Sangha Bajpe-Mangalore, the Treasurer of Vijaya Vitthal Kalyana Mandir Jokatte, Mangalore, and the President of the Administrative Committee of the Gods and Goddesses of the Sri Swayambhoolingeshwara constituency in Bajpe Doddikkatte.
LV, who serves as the Vice President and President of the Jayashree Krishna Environmental Lover Committee, which has been working tirelessly for the all-round development of the twin districts for the past twenty-four years with the support of leaders and organizations of all castes in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district, is carrying out his work as an environmentalist.
As a true Kannada supporter, he held the position of President of Kannada Sangha Santacruz (R.) and is credited with making the Sangha active and taking it to the pinnacle in about 21 years.
He has served as a Special Executive Officer (SEO) appointed by the Maharashtra State Government and as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Central Government-owned Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Limited (MTNL). He is a Director of Bharat Co-operative Bank (Mumbai) Limited, a conglomerate of the Billavara Association, and has also served as the Working Chairman of the Accounts Review Committee.
He runs a business for his livelihood and is the Managing Director of Ambika Mouldtech Private Limited and the Executive Chairman of Ambika Group of Companies. He lives a happy and prosperous life with his wife Sudha L. Avin and three daughters in Kalina, East Santacruz.
Awards
Billavara Association honored him in February 2011 for his unique service in the social and political field. In April 2001, Sahitya Balag Mumbai and Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy Mangalore honored him for the development of Tulu culture, and in 2002, Mumbai Channel presented him with the ’Salute Mumbai Award’ for his service in the political and economic fields. In November 2005, Gyan Mandara Educational and Cultural Academy honored him for his service in the religious, social and religious fields at the Suvarna Karnataka Rajyotsava ceremony. On the same occasion, he was honored with the title of ’Araluva Malige’ at a ceremony in Bengaluru. In May 2006, Karnataka Sangha, New Delhi and Gyan Mandara, Bangalore honored him with the title of ’Bharat Jyoti’ by the All India Kannada Reading Literary Conference. In December 2006, he was honoured with the title of ’Suvarna Kannadiga’ at the All India Kannada Reading Literary Conference organized by Karnataka Sangha Mumbai and Ranga Samaj Cultural Institute, Bangalore. In December 2007, he was honoured with the title of ’Samaja Bhushan’ by Kannada Sangha Santacruz.
In 2018, the Global Foundation Achiever honored him with the ’Asia Pacific Achievers Award’ for his instrumental service at the Globalization of Economic Growth and Social Development Inquiry Conference-International Cultural Fest held in Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Russia.
