Lions Club, Moodubelle organizes Awareness Programme on Cyber Crimes

Udupi/M’Belle, 26 Feb 2025: The Lions Club, Moodubelle along with BelleGrama Panchayat, C.A. Bank, SKDRDP, Karkala Sub-division of Udupi District Police and Shirva Police Station organized an Awareness Programme on ‘Cyber Crimes’ at the Geeta Maandir, Moodubelle on Wednesday, 26 February 2025 at 10.30 am.

 

The programme commenced with Leo Saina Menezes singing a prayer song and lighting the lamp by the dignitaries including S.I. of Shirva Police Station Shaktivelu who was one of the two Resource persons, Dr. Bommayya-Manager of the Canara Bank, Moodubelle, second Resource Person, Mrs. Divya Acharya-President of the Belle Grama Panchayat who  presided over the programme,  Sashidhar Wagle-Vice President of  Belle Grama Panchayat , Ln. Ivan Menezes-President of the Lions Club, Moodubelle, Shivaji Suvarna-President of the C.A. Bank, Moodubelle, Mrs. Sujata Suvarna-President of SKDRDP and Ln. Devdas Hebbar-Secretary of the Lions Club, Moodubelle.

 

Ln. Ivan Menezes in his introductory address outlined the reason behind organizing ghe Awareness Programme on ‘Cyber Crimes’’. Shivaji Suvarna, Mrs. Divya Acharya and Mrs. Sujata Suvarna explained the need to have such programmes to educate the general public regarding the cybercrimes.  Mrs. Sujata Suvarna also proposed the vote of thanks.

The first Resource Person, S.I. Shaktivelu narrated various types of ‘Cyber Crimes’ right from on-line banking frauds to digital arrest and black-mail methods used by the Cyber criminals to defraud the general public. He also pointed out how the people can prevent such Cyber Crimes by managing their mobiles and bring such crimes to the notice of the police immediately.

 

Canara Bank Manager, Dr. Bommayya pointed out how banks try to prevent Cyber Criminals from defrauding the customers. He advised the audience to be careful while using the apps and not to install dangerous and unnecessary apps so that they may not fall victims to the Cyber criminals. He discouraged the people in transacting large amounts of money through on-line banking.
