Catechism Day Observed in St. Lawrence Parish, Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle, 23 Feb 2025: After a yearlong training in Catechism in Sunday Classes, the students and teachers observed the Catechism Day on Sunday, 23 February 2025 at 4 pm in St. Lawrence Community Hall. The Catechism Day was observed by honouring Catechism Teachers, giving prizes to students who scored higher marks in Catechism Examinations and having maximum attendance in Catechism Classes. The added attraction was 10 students depicting Mother Mary in different formats and 11 students depicting the Indian Saints through fancy dress. Besides, there were variety entertainment programme.
The Catechism Day programme commenced with prayer song followed by welcome by Vinusha Moras. Next, Catechism Teachers were called on the dais and were honoured by Fr. George D’Souza-Parish Priest, Fr. Rickson Monteiro-Assistant Parish Priest, Fr. William D’Souza-guest priest and CA Pritish Burton D’Sa-Vice President of the PPC by presenting them mementos.
Mrs. Shanti Alva-Coordinator of the Catechism Classes honoured Fr. George D’Souza and Fr. Rickson Monteiro by presenting them mementos.
In response Mrs. Nancy Aranha thanked the Parish Priest for recognizing their service and honouring the teachers.
In his message, Fr. George D’Souza greatly appreciated the service of the Catechism Teachers who taught catechism without any remuneration. He also appreciated the contribution of the parents in sending their children regularly to the catechism classes.
One student each from first to tenth standards depicted the ten different formats of Mother Mary. Similarly, 11 students presented fancy dress depicting the 11 Indian saints.
Students who scored meritorious marks in each class in Catechism Examinations were given three prizes in each class, first, second and third. Students who had maximum attendance in each class were also given prizes. While the names of the prize winning students in Catechism Examinations was read by Mrs. Lavina Mathias, the list of the students who had maximum attendance was read by Mrs. Cony D’Souza.
In between the programme, students from different classes presented acts of parables from Gospels, dances, group songs and skit.
Fr. Rickson Monteiro in his message expressed his gratitude to the teachers, students and their parents for their cooperation in conducting the Catechism Classes.
Johan Aranha proposed the vote of thanks and Razol Furtado and Jane Rebello compered the programme.
The various items collected by the Missionary Children’s Association will be donated to the specially abled children of Manasa, Pamboor.
