Udupi: Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, Kallianpur, celebrated Bible Sunday with great devotion and fervour on 26th January 2025. The day commenced with the faithful gathering in large numbers for the solemn 8:00 am Holy Mass, signifying their reverence and love for the Holy Scriptures.
The celebration began with a vibrant and prayerful procession, led by the main celebrant, Rev. Fr. Oliver Nazareth, the Assistant Priest, accompanied by 18 dedicated ward members of the ‘Commission for the Holy Scriptures’. Under the leadership of the convenor Mrs. Cynthia D’Silva, the priest ‘Holy Bible’ was carried with great honour and placed on a beautifully decorated stand. Garland, glowing candles, and vibrant flowers surrounded the stand, creating an atmosphere of reverence and beauty.
In his spiritually enriching homily, Fr. Oliver Nazareth emphasized the importance of the Holy Bible in our daily lives. He eloquently explained, using relatable examples, how attentive listening to the Word of God, focused reading, and reflection can guide us through life’s challenges. His thought-provoking message resonated deeply with the congregation, inspiring them to ’make the Scriptures an integral part of their daily routines, where God speaks and heal…’
The liturgy for the day was entrusted to the ‘Commission for the Holy Bible’ of the parish, who took up the responsibility with devotion and zeal, ensuring a spiritually uplifting experience for all present.
The celebration of Bible Sunday declared by Pope Francis since 2019, normally observed on 4th Sunday in January, was a poignant reminder of the transformative power of God’s Word and the need to cherish and live by its teachings.
