“Our Village, Our Lake” program in Dharmasthala: 800th lake handed over

Mumbai ( RBI ),Dec.17: Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D. Veerendra Heggade announced that 800 lakes have already been revitalized in the state under the “Nammur Namma Kere” program under the auspices of the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project and it is planned to revitalize 200 more lakes by the end of April 2025.
He was speaking at the Dharmashri Sabha Bhavan in Dharmasthala on Tuesday after handing over the 800th lake, Chaudanahalli Lake, to former MLA Lingesh.
If you protect the lake, you will get the same merit as if you protected the holy Ganga. Everyone should actively participate in the work of water conservation and clean environment protection. Do not throw garbage, filth, or waste into the lakes. Rejuvenating the lakes is his favorite activity, and he suggested that fruit trees should be grown around the lake. All the work should be done by the government, He said that protecting our village, our lake, and the environment is everyone’s duty and responsibility, without expecting the Gram Panchayat to do it.
Hemavati V. Heggade spoke and said that the lake is the sacred tree of the respective village and is useful for all living beings. She whispered that the lake committee of the village should protect the lake with care, just as the Kshetrapal protects it in every temple.
Shivananda Kalave, as a resource person, provided information and guidance on the conservation of lakes.
Mallikarjuna Hudali of Kittur, a member of the lake committee, expressed his views.
