Udupi, 11 Aug: This year, most innovative, purposeful and practical way of planting fruit bearing saplings by Gurkars and representatives of 18 wards was a demonstration of parish family was a beautiful sight to watch as the authorities entrusted with taking care of the allotted trees by watering, manure and round the year supervision….!!
On Sunday, 11th August, 2024, after the 8.00 am Holy Mass, as a part of Vana-mahotsava, was observed under the initiative of Catholic Sabha, Mount Rosary Unit, in association with the Commission for Environment of the Church, Stree Sanghatan, and the ICYM organised a programme to highlight the significance of conservation of bio diversity and environment.
Indeed it’s a social responsibility to have a green and clean surrounding and its time and need of the hour to take proactive steps in order to protect flora and fauna, not only of the nation but the world as a whole. Catholic Sabha always at the forefront to educate and encourage its members and general public to make its genuine efforts to popularise planting of trees, medicinal plants and shrubs from the grass root level.
In a symbolic ceremony that was organised just behind the Church, surrounding the open ground, Parish Priest Rev Dr Roque DSouza led and planted few saplings along with the assistant parish Priest Rev Fr. Oliver Nazareth, President of the Catholic Sabha Mr Elias DSouza, Mount Rosary Unit, CS Varado President Mrs Mrs Rosy Quadros, Office bearers of Catholic Sabah, Mount Rosary Church, ICYM Diocesan President Godwin Muscarenhas along with Local Unit Office bearers, Convenor of the Environment Commission of the Parish and representatives of Stree Sangatan and others were also present.
