St. Lawrence Parish, Moodubelle celebrates Annual Feast with devotion

Udupi/M’Belle, 03 Jan 2024: The Annual Parish Feast of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle was celebrated on Wednesday, 03 January 2024 with devotion and grandeur as a large number of parishioners participated in the solemn festal Mass. The overnight unseasonal rains and drizzling in the morning did not deter the devotees of St. Lawrence from attending the solemn feast.

 

The proceedings of the Annual Parish Feast commenced with the distribution of Candles of Honour at 09.30 am. While the Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council Charles Quadros read the names of the donors and sponsors, Fr. George D’Souza, Parish Priest St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle distributed the candles.

 

The solemn feast Mass started at 10 am. Fr. Roshan D’Souza, Chancellor of the Udupi Diocese was the chief celebrant assisted by Fr. George D’Souza and Fr. Charles Menezes-Dean of Udupi Deanery.

 

In his homily, elaborating the theme of the Annual Feast, Fr. Roshan D’Souza said that Christian community has been known for its service to humankind with many charitable institutions. The Missionaries had started schools and hospitals to educate and treat the people especially coming from the lower strata of the society. Various associations run by the parishes such as St. Vincent De Paul Society have been rendering help to the poor and needy. St. Theresa of Kolkata (Mother Theresa) has been the best example of service to the destitute and marginalized in the society. For this selfless service Jesus Christ has been an inspiration and guide. Fr. Roshan D’Souza cited many examples from the Gospels manifesting the compassion and concern of Jesus to the sick, hungry and needy. St. Lawrence gave up his life in the service of the poor of Rome.

 

 

At the end of the solemn feast mass, Fr. George D’Souza distributed Candles of Honour to the sponsors of the Annual Parish Feast, Vespers and  Confraternity Sunday. He also conveyed the greetings of the feast to all parishioners and expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the Annual Parish Feast.

 

Fr. Charles Menezes-Dean of Udupi Deanery conveyed the greetings of the Annual Feast to all the parishioners of Moodubelle.

 

The choir, well trained by Fr. Pradeep Cardoza enhanced the festive atmosphere by their melodious singing.
