Long awaited Konkani Film “Osmitay” Premieres in Udupi

Udupi/Manipal, 11 Sep 2023: The long awaited Konkani movie "Osmitay- In search of Konkani Identity" premiered on 10 September 2023 at the Bharat Cinemas in the Canara Mall Manipal. The show was organized by Mandd Sobhann with support from Parichaya Prathistana Pamboor, Niranthar Udyavar, Kalaradhan Pangala, Arul D’Souza, Elvin Nazreth, Neil Quadras and Alwyn  Danthy.

 

A formal function was held prior to the screening of the movie. Vicar General of the Udupi Diocese, Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Rev. Fr Denis D’Sa, Rev. Fr Alwyn Serrao, Rev. Fr Alwyn D’Souza, Rev. Fr Henry Mascarenhas, Rev. Dr. Roshan D’Souza, KPCC Vice President and former MLC Ivan D’Souza and Sujay D’Souza (popularly known as DJ Sujay), Members from Mandd Sobhann and “Osmitay” Movie - Stany Alvares, Naveen Lobo, Joel Pereira and Sunil Siddi were present. 

 

Prakash Noronha welcomed the gathering. Ivan D’Souza formally inaugurated the show by tapping the ’’Gumat’’. Joel Pereira gave a short insight about the movie explaining its highlights, technical and other details. Ivan D’Souza also conveyed his best wishes for the movie. Sujay while conveying his wishes, urged the younger generation to support the movie by watching and promoting the movie on their social media handles. All the priests present gave their blessings and good wishes for the success of this movie. All supporters who had helped in distributing the premiere show passes were felicitated by the dignitaries. Alwyn Danthy Pernal compered the inaugural programme. This movie premiered in two screens simultaneously.

 

 

’Osmitay,’ produced by Loui J Pinto under the banner of Mandd Sobhann Productions is directed by Director Vilas Rathnakar Kshatriya. The lead actors are Ashwin D’Costa and Wencita Dias who narrate the story through their travel diary. Saiesh Panandikar from Goa has given a credible performance. The story of the movie was written by Eric Ozario. Balaraj Gowda’s cinematography is impressive. The music is provided by Eric Ozario, Allwyn Fernandes, Cajaten Dias, and Joel Periera has done the background scores. The film is edited by Joel Pinto.

 

The movie will be released in Mangaluru, Surathkal, Padubidri, Manipal, Puttur, Belthangady, Karkala, Udupi, and Honnavar on Friday, September 15. It will be screened in Kalpana Theatre Udupi and Bharat Cinemas Manipal (Canara Mall). Subsequently the movie will be released in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Goa, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Israel, Germany, Australia, Ireland, and the USA.
