Pratibha Puraskar Presented to Meritorious Students of St. Lawrence Composite PU College, Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle, 05 Mar 2022: After a lapse of two years due to the closure of educational institutions, Pratibha Puraskar to the meritorious students of SSLC and PUC were presented in St. Lawrence Composite Pu College on Saturday, 5 March 2022 at 10.30 am in St. Lawrence PU College auditorium.

 

The puraskar presentation programme was presided over by Fr. George D’Souza-Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions.  Nagesh Lakshman Wagle retired Junior Warrant Officer and an alumnus of the institution was the chief guest. Other dignitaries on the dais included Gerald Fernandes-Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council, Elias D’Souza-President of the Old Students Association, Edward Larsen D’Souza-Principal of St. Lawrence PU College, Mrs. Sunitha Kamath-Headmistress of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School and Dileep-SPL.

 

Following the prayer by the students and welcome address by Edward Larsen D’Souza, endowment prizes were distributed to the students of SSLC and Second Year PUC for their excellent performance in their respective public examinations. While Fr. George D’Souza distributed the prizes, John Castelino read the names of the SSLC students and Mrs. Jacintha Lobo read the names of the PUC students.

 

 

Retired Junior Warrant Officer Nagesh Lakshman Wagle was honoured by the dignitaries on the dais after the citation was read by Sudhir Naik.

 

In his address Nagesh Wagle said that hailing from Pernankila he was the student of the institution during  1967-1970. He was very proud to mention that he was the classmate of Karnataka State level first rank holder in 1969 SSLC batch-Philip D’Souza. Further, he said that primary and high school education is the basic foundation of one’s educational journey. The educational institution is like a second home for each student. He made an appeal to the girl students to join the defense forces as the government has provided the facility of them being commissioned as officers.

 

Next, Co-curricular prizes were distributed by Nagesh Lakshman Wagle to high school students and Gerald Fernandes distributed the prizes to the PUC students. Stany Menezes and  Dileep Kumar read the names of high school and PUC students respectively.

 

In his speech Gerald Fernandes said that whatever values the students cultivate and practice during their studies, they would go a long way in shape their future life  and success in their career.

 

 

The sports prizes were distributed by Elias D’Souza while Valerian Crasta and Joseph D’Souza read the names of high school and PUC students respectively.

 

In his address to the students Elias D’Souza said that the educational institutions give ample encouragement to the students to develop their skills and manifest their capabilities so that they can top in the respective fields of their interest may it be academic or co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

 

Fr. George D’Souza was honoured on the occasion of his birthday by offering him a bouquet of flowers by the dignitaries on the dais.

 

In his message, Fr. George D’Souza every student has potential to succeed and do well. However, many lack motivation and will power to utilize their talents and boost their potential to the level of excellence. He made an appeal to the students to take full advantage of the facilities provided in the educational institutions and guidance of their teachers  to excel in their studies and extra-curricular activities so that they can be on top.

 

Mrs. Sunitha Kamath proposed the vote of thanks and Ms. Shrithi Shalet D’Souza compeered the programme.

 

Students of high school and Pu College presented few cultural items.
