Mangaluru: Coastal district to explore domestic & agri-tourism – Kar tourism secretary

Mangaluru, 20 Mar 2021: Connect-2021, an interactive session with Pankaj Kumar Pandey, secretary of Karnataka state tourism department by travel, tourism and hospitality stakeholders of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts was held Ocean Pearl Hotel, here on Friday, March 19.
It was jointly organized by Karnataka tourism department and Karnataka Tourism Society (KTS).
DK Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra, Udupi Deputy Commissioner Jagadisha, KTS secretary Kumar Pushkar, Karnataka tourism joint secretary Ravindra and others partaken in the interactive session with stakeholders.
Pankaj released the logo of DK tourism and teaser video was screened on the occasion.
V Karikalan, DFO, Mangaluru, Mona Roth IAS was also present.
The Deputy Commissioners of both DK and Udupi districts elaborated on the roadmap to explore tourism potential that would generate revenue and local employments in the coastal district.
Pankaj laid stress on agri-tourism that is less explored in coastal district as there are many progressive farmers who would offer hands on experiences to tourists in their farms by homestays.
The stakeholders such as adventure sports promoter, homestay owners, resort owners, leisure hotel owners, tour operators, travel agents etc from DK and Udupi raised their issues and sought to be resolved by the department officials.
The programme began with Karnataka state anthem by Geeta and group. Manunath welcomed the dignitaries. Somashekar, assistant director of Udupi tourism proposed vote of thanks.
A caravan/camper was parked for viewing by the stakeholders at the entrance of Ocean Pearl Hotel.
