Manipal: Arogya Card 2011 Scheme Inaugurated

Manipal, 12 June 2011: K.M.C. Hospital’s Arogya Card 2011 scheme is inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Dr. T. M. Reju on Saturday. The first card has been handed over to Krishna Kulal’s family by the Deputy Commissioner and thus symbolically initiated the distribution of cards. K.M.C. Hospital has been rendering the health service in concessional rates since the last 10 years.
On this occasion Manipal University Vice Chancellor Dr. H. S. Ballal briefed the information of this health card that those who possess this card can avail considerable concession in the K.M.C. Hospitals in Manipal, Mangalore, Dr. T.M.A. Pai Hospitals in Udupi and Karkala as inpatient or out patient, he announced.
Anyone can obtain this card by paying individually with an annual membership fee of Rs. 250 and family (husband, wife and two children under 21 years) annual membership. For an additional Rs. 100 the elders (father, mother) at home also can be included in this scheme, he said.
The card holders can avail 50% concession in Doctor’s consultation fee, in Laboratory fee 20% concession, in Hospital Pharmacy medicine charges 10% concession and the inpatients from their total fees 25% concession can be availed irrespective of consulting any Doctor for any number of times at any of these Hospitals, he said.
On this occasion Manipa University Chancellor Dr. Ramnarayan and K.M.C. Dean Dr. P. Shripathi Rao honoured those who cooperated in the card registration program. Hospital Chief Executive Officer Dr. (Carnal) R.R. Pulgavkar welcomed the gathering. Medical Officer Dr. Madhusoodan Upadhya proposed vote of thanks.
In last year about 1,75,000 people registered their name under this scheme and in total rupees 10 crore fee they have received rupees 3 crore concession.
Those who has last year’s card can get 10% concession in renewing their cards. To register these cards applications are available at KMC Hospitals Manipal and Mangalore, Dr. T.M.A. Pai Hospitals Udupi and Karkala, Syndicate Bank Branches in Udupi, Mangaloe, Shivmoga, Uttara Kannada, Davanagere, Chitradurga, Chikmagaluru, Kodagu, Kannanur (Kerala), Kasaragod (Kerala) districts.
