Udupi: Adani-UPCL unveils concreted roads laid @ Rs 25 lacs in Palimar & Nandikoor

Udupi, 03 Feb: Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) that is operating 2 units of 600 MW power plant in Yellur village, near here, in collaboration with CSR wing of Adani Foundation, inaugurated 2 concrete roads in the limits of Palimar gram panchayat, here recently.
Six-hundred-fifty meters of Nandikoor – Berandikatte road which interconnects Palimar and Nandikoor villages and 115 meters connecting Shambhavi Nagar, which was concreted at a project cost of Rs 25 lac were unveiled by Jeetendra Futrado, president of Palimar gram panchayat and Kishore Alva, president of Adani UPCL.
Speaking on the occasion, Jeetendra Futrado expressed happiness on the Adani Group’s initiation in village development works in the surrounding villages of UPCL plant. He informed that earlier villagers used to depend on the State Highway for travelling to and fro Nandikoor to Palimar which is 6 kms. But with this new concrete road connecting 2 villages Nandikoor and Palimar, the distance has reduced to 2 kms and is much beneficial to the villagers, Futrado added. He further said that the long pending demand for new road by the villagers has been fulfilled by the Adani Group with due consideration for the works under panchayat action plan.
Even the road connecting to Shambhavi Nagar of Palimar gram panchayat office was previously a dirt road making it motorable difficult for the villagers. But now the villagers get benefitted with concreting road, Futrado added.
Later, Kishore Alva informed that in 3 years Adani UPCL had committed to deliver village development works in the surrounding 7 gram panchayats to a tune of nearly Rs 23 crore in a phased manner. Out of which development works worth Rs 11.50 crore has been completed. Under this commitment, Palimar gram panchayat’s share of development works was Rs 3 crores and till date UPCL has executed 8 works worth Rs 92 lac. The balance of development works shall be taken-up by the company in the next financial years in a phase-wise manner, Alva added.
Nandikoor Durgaparameshwari temple priest informed that with the development of new road connecting Nandikoor temple to both Palimaru and Nandikoor village facilitates devotees of both the villages to visit temple. He thanked Adani Group for its concern in the social development works.
Karunakara Shetty, past president of Palimar gram panchayat, Satish Devadiga, Gayathr iPrabhu, Vasu Devadiga, Hemalatha Achary and Shivaram Poojary, gram panchayat members, PDO Satish, Ravi R Jere, senior manager of Adani UPCL, Sukesh Suvarna, Vineet Anchan and Anudeep of Adani Foundation were present on the occasion.
