Kanajar: Fr. John Mendonca taken charge as New Parish Priest

Kanajar, 07 June 2011: Rev. Fr. John Mendonca was given a warm welcome on June 1, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church Kanajar as he took charge as the new parish priest of Kanajar parish from  Fr. Alwyn D’Cunha.

 

Fr. John Mendonca received a warm welcome from the Kanajar parishioners at 3.30 pm. Fr. Alwyn D’Cunha welcomed Fr. John Mendonca by garlanding him. Mr. Ignatius D’Souza, Vice-President, Mrs. Janet Menezes, Secretary, Parish Council as well as Sr. Meena, Sister Superior of Lourdes Convent welcomed Fr. John Mendonca by garlanding him.

 

Fr. Remigius Aranha accompanied  Fr. John Mendonca who was serving as the Parish Priest of Pezar Parish.  Fr. Remigius Aranha had served as Parish Priest of Kanajar until 2004 before transferring to Barkur. Fr. Remigius Aranha is the new Parish Priest of Pezar parish.

 

 

Karkal Varado Vicar Var Rev. Fr. John Barboza looked over the formalities as  Fr. John Mendonca took charge as the Parish Priest. Fr. Alwyn D’Cunha gave a welcome message to Fr. John Mendonca. Mr. Ignatius D’Souza, Vice-President of Parish Council read out the letter with brief introduction which introduced Kanajar Parish and parishioners to Fr. John Mendonca. The letter was handed over to the Rev. Fr. John Mendonca by Mr. Ignatius D’Souza.

 

Fr. John Mendonca thanked Kanajar parishioners for the warm welcome accorded to him. Mr. George D’Sa was the master of ceremony. Mrs. Janet Menezes, Secretary of the Parish Council and the Vice-President of Pezar Parish Council were also on the dais. Large number of parishioners were present to welcome the new Parish Priest Rev. Fr. John Mendonca.
