Udupi: Rain and lightening causes damage

Udupi, 05 June 2011: With the rain poured on Friday night in Udupi Taluk rupees 3.20 lakh and in Kundapura Taluk rupees 70 thousands worth properties are damaged. In Kukkikatte, Badagubettu Grama of Udupi Taluk, lightening hit the grocery shop of Chandrashekara, as a result the electric short circuit burnt all the grocery materials along with the shop. With this about rupees 3 lakhs loss has taken place, said the officers of land tax department. Similarly the lightening hit the house of Govinda Nayak of Pejamangur Grama, and the loss is estimated to about rupees 20 thousands.

 

 

 

 

In Kundapura Taluk, Kumbashi Grama, the rain has caused partly damage to 5 houses and the damage is estimated to about rupees 35 thousands. Similarly the roof of Mahakali Temple is damaged and the loss is estimated to rupees 35 thousands.

 

On Saturday, in Udupi Taluk 24.20 millimetre, in Karkala Taluk 29.20 millimetre and in Kundapura Taluk 90.20 millimetre rain is recorded. In the district average 47.86 millimetre rain has come.
