Udupi: ISRO scientist lauds India’s successful maiden Mangalayan mission

Udupi, 27 Apr: The two-day national conference on Emerging Trends in Science and Engineering (NCETSE 2019), organized at Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, near here was inaugurated by Dr P G Diwakar, scientific secretary, ISRO Bengaluru on Friday, April 26.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr P G Diwakar appreciated the efforts of the college for having organized this type of conference which is very much relevant in the fast growing science and technology. Lot of research work is happening around the world. It is known fact that tools and technology are changing every day. Unless we keep ourselves abreast of the technological advancements, we will be losing the race. In order to update ourselves, attending workshops/conferences of this kind help us so that we can get connected to people who are working on the similar area. He also informed that, ISRO is one among six nations in the world who have complete space program. Because of the commitment and determination of scientists of ISRO India became first country in the world that could land on Mars in the very first attempt. He also said that, ISRO is contributing in various aspects to touch the life of common people by helping various government departments through space technology.
Ratnakumar, secretary, Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust, Udupi presided the inaugural function.
Dr Vasudeva, in charge Principal, welcomed the gathering. Sujay Raghavendra, assistant Professor of civil engineering department introduced the chief guest and the organizing chair Anand V R, head of department of civil engineering proposed vote of thanks. Sowmya Bhat, assistant Professor of electronics and communication engineering department compered the program.
The inaugural function was followed by a keynote address on Indian Space Program, a perspective by Dr P G Diwakar. Dr Paresh Chandra Deka, Professor, department of applied mechanics, NITK, Suratkal, Dr Arun Isloor, Professor, department of chemistry, NITK Suratkal and Dr G S Dwarakish, Professor, department of applied mechanics, NITK Suratkal gave guest talks in different sessions.
More than 100 research papers were presented by researchers, academics and students from across the state.
