Udupi: Man injured while trying to save cow from Leopard

Udupi, 31 May 2017: In an incident which happened in the early hours of Wednesday May 31 at Mallibettu in Ninjoor village in the taluk, a leopard attacked a cow as well as a man who tried to save the cow.
In this incident, Valerian D’Souza (53) suffered grievous injuries. After giving preliminary treatment at the government hospital at Ajjarkad Udupi, Valerian was admitted into KMC Hospital Manipal for advanced treatment.
It is said that the leopard, which was hiding in the attic of the cattle shed belonging to Appi Poojarthi, leaped on a cow belonging to her at daybreak and tried to eat it.
Officials from forest department went to the spot and took away the leopard which was also injured.
