Kaup, 05 April 2011: “Young generation should not be pressurized for donating blood, instead they should voluntarily come forward for the blood donation” said Udupi Deputy Commissioner P. Hemalatha. She was inaugurating the mass Blood Donation camp at Kaup Group of Institutions jointly organized by Kaup Rotary Club and Blood Bank Center of Udupi District Hospital on Wednesday. She said that the blood donation camps can be successful only when we convey the awareness on the blood donation among the young generation.

The inaugural program was presided over by K. P. Acharya – Correspondent of Vidhyanikethana Group of Institutions. Dr. Sharathkumar – Head of the Udupi District Blood Bank Centre and Dr. H. Ashok – District Aids Control Officer were the Chief Guests. Dora Noronha from Red Ribbon Club, N.S.S. Officer Preethi and Vidyadhara Puranik were also present on the occasion.

Kaup Rotary Club President Ananth Padiyar welcomed the gathering. Prof. V. K. Udyavara – Managing Officer of Vidhyanikethan Group of Institutions proposed vote of thanks. Student Shifan compeered the program.

Since there were many nursing and degree students participated in the camp, D.C. Hemalatha directly discussed with the students and questioned them on their future career plans and explained on their career after they complete nursing or degree. The students also replied with keen interest and one of them even said that “I too will become a Deputy Commissioner like you”, which brought smile on the face of D.C. Hemalatha.

At the same time other students answered that they will become good nurse, good journalist, good home maker and so on… expressed their plans. D.C. Hemalatha explained them on how the students need to decide now and aim at their career and proceed accordingly and become able citizens and gave them advice.

Giving blood and saving life is the greatest sacrifice and there will not be affect to body by donating blood. I feel social organisations to come forward in organising blood donation camps.
