Mangalore: Internet edition of ‘Kambala’ launched

Mangalore, 30 March 2011: The internet edition of book on ‘Kambala’ (buffalo race) was launched hereon Tuesday. The Kambala book is written by Shekhar Ajekar and the internet edition is available on www.ajekar.com

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, Shekhar Ajekar also announced Kambala book award for the year 2009-10. He said that he has met 148 persons related to Kambala and after interviewing them, the awards are being given. ‘Jeevitha shreshta Kambala gaurava’—Baradi Kambala; ‘Varshada shreshta kambala’ (I)—Moodbidri kambala; second place for Miyaru Kambala and third place for Puttur Kambala.

 

Baradi beedu and Pilikula kambala have been selected for the consolation prizes while Chandrahas Sahdu Sanil has been selected for the ‘Kambala yuva sadhaka’ award.  Kambala Samithi President Jeevandhar Ballal launched the internet edition.
