Parishioners of Moodubelle contribute Rs 2 lac towards Mission Sunday

Udupi/Moodubelle, 17 Oct 2016: The parishioners of St Lawrence parish, Moodubelle, here generously contributed towards the mission on Sunday, October 16, as was the case every year on Mission Sunday.

 

The parishioners donated food grains, rice mura, vegetables, coconuts, bananas, clothes, cosmetics and of course the cows, squirrel and cocks which are the traditional special attraction. The auctioning was held in front of the church by Lloyd Rebello and Maxim D’Sa, as parishioners both young and old competitively bargained to grab their choice item. The auction yielded Rs 2 lac.

 

 

The auction was not just limited to the parishioners alone as the well-wishers from other religion also attended the event actively and even purchased some of the items with their highest bids. ICYM unit had taken the active role in the success of this event. Stree Sanghatan and parish wards had put up breakfast stalls.

 

All the proceedings of the funds collected from the collection, auction and selling of food shall be for the Mission Sunday. Moodubelle has been one of the parishes in the Mangaluru – Udupi dioceses where highest amount of funds collected on the occasion of Mission Sunday every year. After the auction delicious lunch was served to over 1,000 people who attended this event.

 

Moodubelle parish priest Fr Clement Mascarenhas, assistant parish priest Fr Lawrence, Fr Reginald Pinto, Fr Alphonse D’ Lima, parish council vice president Alphonse Alva, secretary Latha D’Mello, other community leaders and the parishioners were present on the occasion.

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, Fr Clement Mascarenhas thanked the parishioners and the well-wishers for their generosity in bringing the articles, buying them and for their contribution in various ways. He also thanked everyone who worked relentlessly for the success of this event.

 

It was a memorable day for all the parishioners. It would not have been possible without the help of the parishioners.
