He said that the Catholic Sabha is the strength and future of the Catholic community. The Catholic Community has been facing a number of challenges and the Catholic Sabha has come to their rescue which fosters unity and strength among the members of the community. He pointed out that other communities have built their own organizations based on caste, language and religion and have made great progress in political, economic, social and cultural spheres. Catholic Sabha, since its inception has grown in membership number and strength and has been providing a number of services to Catholic Community through health cards, helping to avail government facilities and funds as well as scholarships to thousands of students. In modern times there are various forces which are inimical to Christians, hence it is important that the Catholic Sabha has to be strengthened to provide security and protection to Christian communities. The new diocese has provided a vast new canvas on which the Catholic Sabha can draw the painting as it wishes, meaning thereby, that the Catholic Sabha has huge opportunities to chart its own course in the interest of the Catholic Community. I consider myself privileged to attend annual Samavesh of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh. I read their Handbook and made some studies on their work since its initiation in 2013. I was impressed and touched by the dedication and hard work put in by its office bearers and laity under the spiritual guidance of their Patron and spiritual leaders. It is an entity run by laity with high level of efficiency and transparency. Their approach and efforts towards the society s need of connectivity and bridging looks spot on to me. There were hardly any religious order people involved in their mission apart from spiritual guidance and suggestions where needed. Bishop is striving hard to give more responsibility and leadership to laity. This is my personal opinion. Long Live catholic Sabha- Udupi Pardesh and all Catholic Sabha s of India under the principles of Christ!
