Edmeru: Republic Day celebrated at Shri Mahabhaleshwara school

Moodubelle, 28 January 2010: The Republic Day was celebrated in Shri Mahabhaleshwara Higher Primary School at Edmeru on Tuesday, 26th January 2010 at 9.30 am. The national flag was hoisted by Vijaya and Kenneth Aranha, old students of the school. Other than the students, staff and headmaster-Vivekananda Shetty, the flag hoisting ceremony was attended by guests including Helen D’Souza-President of the Jyothi Mahila Mandal, Govinda Jogi-a businessman from Palli, Sitarama Shetty-member of the School Managing Committee, Bhaskara Shetty-the senior teacher of the school. Jacintha Aranha-member of the Belle Grama Panchayat and Sundara Acharya.
On the occasion of the Republic Day celebrations, Govinda Jogi presented belts and ties to the students of the school in memory of his late father-Krishna Jogi. Karunakara Shetty donated Rs.10,000/- towards the expenses of the midday meal for the school in memory of his late father-Vithala Shetty. Belanjale Madhav Nayak donated Rs.1,000/- to purchase vessels for the midday meal. Kenneth Aranha donated a 22 litres pressure cooker and Benedict Martis and Flavia Martis, presidents of the Lions Club and Lioness Club of Moodubelle respectively donated sports items worth Rs.3,500/- to the school. Jacintha Aranha and Sundara Acharya distributed sweets for the school children on the occasion of the Republic Day celebrations.
